“Eating is an Agricultural Act?” The Ethics of Food and Eating

DESCRIPTION/REFLECTION:

Paragraph 1: Describe the project and some of the things you learned throughout.

In this project we learn about were are food come ]from how it ends up to the store then later our plate to give us the information we can use to choose what we as individual really want from are everyday diets, I learn that I feel safer eating locally rather than form a company and the dangers of focusing on quantity over quality.I also saw how food can bring a community to gather.

Paragraph 2: How did the interdisciplinary nature of this project impact your learning? How did studying food in both classes impact your learning?

I

thought that I learned so much about one topic in several ways that could help me make better decisions for me and my life the effect of food chemically and how it affects the rest of our home.

Paragraph 3:What are your main takeaways from studying food academically? How has your thinking about food changed from before?

I think my main take away is I want to feel that connection to the world and also be provided with the knowledge that what I'm eating is safe.

Food Ethics Essay :

A recipe has no soul you as the cook must bring the soul to the recipe.-Thomas Keller

In our world today there are 7.8 billion people. In the United States there are 328.2 million people. Each average person eats about 4 pounds of food a day. For the US that is about 1,312.8 million pounds of food per day. Now ask yourself how much of that is corn how much o that is corn feed how much food are you eating that is produced by a company that is more worried about the quantity of food they put out over the quality of food they put out ask yourself how safe it is to eat the food you buy and if it is worth the risk.

In my opinion, food is something we should be more aware of not only in the way we eat it or how much it costs but where it comes from. I think that by buying local meat, fruit and vegetables not only supports and builds a strong sense of community but allows the buyer to gain the knowledge and comfort of knowing where their food has been and that it has been paid close attention to the food you buy at the store. The personal connection you have with the food you can make you appreciate it more. So if you can afford it my suggestion would be to get it when you can.

There is also the need for cheaper food due to some people having a lake of money so eating anything you'd be better in those cases I am grateful for large companies. That being said larger companies are beneficial for people of lower-income being that they can feed these people with very cheap expenses this means people can eat and not starve however I also think that if you can't afford to buy from local companies it would be very beneficial to you.

This can be a very conflicting topic. Most of what we eat as individuals is not only based on our ability to eat the foods we want but also the limits of what we can eat as individuals. As a general in the US I think it would be nice to have policies to protect us from the problem we face with these large corporations. Yet, under current circumstances the best we can do is educate ourselves about where food comes from and the quality it is produced at. I think if more people were educated about this topic we would make better purchasing choices leading corporations to have more caution about the way we feed our life stake and the care it goes through. For this

In conclusion, I think it best to support your local community as best as you can if you are able if you just don't have the money or are unable to do so it is best you feed yourself and family this, of course, doesn't mean junk food all the time.

Personal Philosophy:

Personal Philosophy Statement:

Long ago when I was young I took my monsters a gift from a friend and locked them behind a door painted red in my head. Sadly the gifts given to me began to claw at the door. Pain bleeds through. I had begged to hide them away until one night in my dreams I met someone who would set me free. For they would fight my monsters but give me a key to the door and say that you hold the key to your prison but can you set yourself free knowing what you do not know? Open the door in which you fear you'll never be able to turn on the light switch across the room.

You’ve hidden long enough you’ve allowed your monsters to grow because you have been unable to expose them to the light. Your monsters fear and wrath are just as much yours as your love passion and happiness. You can not have life without death so why do you shune the monsters in the dark when the ones to fear always live in the light. That night I found myself and who and what I believed was and what could be. A star pool feels my head where the teachers stand to give me the tools I need to become the master piece of its own creation.

I came from tribe among the stars we dance around fire and sung songs with the ring of wolves we move with are own no matter what because are souls dance light northern lights and we saw another like stars we were people equal to those who live in the stars, and those who walked on land. The plants we praise for they give us the ability to heal and breath. We prised the water for it cleansed not only our bodies but souls. The air to all those who wish to be close to father sky the oceans and see for those who wish to be close with mother earth and for those who yearn to liven in balance the land.

Our souls with no shape or form just free could shift and choose a new path when death presented herself like a friend whom you knew from the beginning. When we have power coursing through our vines we must choose the true authentic form in which it shall take place. We are our own creations. The only strings that pull us like puppets are thoughts created to return what we have given. They are even pulled at random. Welcome to the world where great power is given through knowledge for you. You may hold a sword but little use is it useless you know how to weld it. It is wise to respect others including plants and animals for they all hold and weld swords of their very own. Some even hold swords that you could never even touch.

So in conclusion find yourself then you can find all in which you need to know. However, never search for things you need not know for you may hold more power than you can control.

Poem:

Cold winter's night

Moonlight kissing my eyes

As they flutter closed like butterflies

Only so I can bathe in starlight

I hear the call of the night

I hear the call of my life

Can be my greatest masterpiece

Far from home I finally know

Where to go

Golden dusk and Golden dust

My heartbeat is mine

Where I go is only something I know

Dark and light never have seen something give me such delight

I hear the call of the night

I hear the call of my life

Can be my greatest masterpiece

Far from home I finally know

Where to go

Mountains tremble and bridges break

In the deep dark, you find the bioluminescent sharks

Monsters created to protect a true treasure

And a sword only those with knowledge can wield

I hear the call of the night

I hear the call of my life

Can be my greatest masterpiece

Far from home I finally know

Where to go

Back to my star pool

Paragraph 1: Project Description

Describe the project itself and the direction you took it. Which essential question(s) was your project seeking to answer? What was the inspiration behind the direction you took and the perspective you developed?

I wanted to find and share my personal view of the world. I see it as something of my own culture mixed with modern paganism to fill in gaps for my culture. The main reason I went down this path is that my culture always seemed to grow with time to best suit are generations.

Paragraph 2: New Insights

Please explain what new insights you developed over the course of this project either about yourself, life, the human place in the world/universe? How has your thinking been influenced by our study of philosophy and ethics?

I think I knew myself before this project but I think now I embrace it more by looking into other cultures with similar roots as mine all around the world to know how to show respect towards those cultures as equals to my own.

Paragraph 3: Further Questions and Intellectual Work Left to Do

Where do your intellectual quandaries go from here? What do you wonder about now that you may not have before? What questions do you still need to answer for yourself? If you like, include a list of roughly 4-6 questions this project sparked for you about yourself, life, or the human place in the world/universe.

The Education of Minority

  • Describe the project that you did and your experience at exhibition.

    • My project was about are current history content. Looking at how beneficial it is to have a broader history shown to the youth. This is found to be very important to those who aspire to learn things about history. In the case of a minority not being able to see themselves takes away the opportunity to learn about an identity of their culture or similar cultures. The effect on dominant culture is they don’t get to see or learn about other cultures this takes away the opportunity to understand other culture norms. My experience at the exhibition was very calm and had people shocked and very interested be that i had work on something truly amazing.

  • Now that you have looked at both sides of our political division  more deeply, how and why has your perspective shifted?

    • What do you now understand about your own values that you didn’t before?

    • What do you understand about the “other side’s” values that you didn’t before?

  • What have you learned about democracy after completing this project?

  • How have your political views changed as a result of this project?

  • What role could Rogerian rhetoric and/or a “willingness to be disturbed” play in a democratic society?
